The need for food

Food is a basic human need and is essential to life. Food is a unique and bonding resource that should be shared at every level: family, community, national and international.

Food needed to provide human with energy to keep active and maintain body functions such as breathing. It also keep the body healthy and help fight disease.


Food is a fuel and human bodies work best of they are topped up with a mix of different types of food. Food must be digested so that the nutrients in the food can be absorbed into the bloodstream and used for energy, growth and body functioning.

Foods converts into energy it needs to build cells and tissues, to repair or replace injured or worn out tissues, and to maintain all the body’s functions.

Humans can eat fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, dairy products, eggs, grains, seeds and nuts.

If the bodies do not have enough of the right types of food then they will not work properly because they will be malnourished.
